Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Lug & Leather collects when you visit, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not to bury you.

What we collect

• Messages you send us. If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you provide so we can reply. These are delivered to us by email and kept only as long as needed to handle your query.
• Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people find us — page views, rough geographic region, device type, and the like, in aggregate rather than as a dossier on you.
• Server logs. Like almost every website, our host records standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, for security and reliability.

Cookies

Two kinds of cookies are relevant here. Google Analytics sets analytics cookies to measure traffic. And when you click a link through to Amazon, Amazon sets its own affiliate cookie so that any purchase is credited to us — that cookie is set by Amazon, on Amazon, under Amazon's terms, not by us. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies of our own.

How we use the data

Only for the obvious reasons: to reply to your messages, to understand and improve what we publish, and to keep the site secure and working. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it except with the service providers named here who process it on our behalf.

Third parties

The two third parties that matter are Google (Analytics) and Amazon (the affiliate program and its cookie). Each has its own privacy policy governing what it does with data, and we would encourage you to read them. Our contact form is delivered to our inbox through Microsoft's email service; the message you send travels to us and no further.

Your choices

You are in control of the cookies. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's official opt-out browser add-on. Blocking analytics cookies does not break the site.

Children

Lug & Leather is a general-interest site about watches and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
