The short version: Lug & Leather makes money through affiliate links, it costs you nothing extra, and it never changes what we recommend. Here is the longer version, in plain English.

How we earn

When you click a product link on this site and go on to buy, we may earn a commission from the retailer. Today that retailer is Amazon: Lug & Leatheris a participant in the Amazon Associates program, an affiliate advertising program. In the program's own required words — as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. We may add other affiliate networks in the future, and if we do, this page will say so.

It costs you nothing extra

The commission is paid by the retailer out of its own margin. You pay the same price you would pay going to Amazon directly — the affiliate link does not add a cent. Our outbound product links are cloaked through a /go redirect, which is simply a tidy internal link that forwards you to the retailer with our tag attached. It is a housekeeping detail, not a tracking scheme aimed at you.

Commissions never change our rankings

This is the line that matters most. Which products we recommend, and in what order, is decided before money enters the picture and is never adjusted for it. We routinely rank a cheaper watch above a more expensive one that would pay us a larger commission, because the ranking answers your question — what should I buy — not ours. No brand pays for placement, a higher position, or a kinder verdict, and we accept no free products or review units. How the ranking is actually built is described in how we review.

About the prices you see

Prices are pulled live from Amazon and are accurate as of the date shown on each page. Prices change often, and the price you see at Amazon's checkout is the one that counts. If our price data goes stale, we hide it rather than display an out-of-date figure.
