Lug & Leather publishes buying guides, not press releases. This policy explains how we choose what to recommend, how we source our facts, and how we fix things when we get them wrong.

How picks are chosen

Every recommendation is buyer-first and spec-based. We start from the question a reader is actually asking — the best diver under $500, the field watch that suits a small wrist, the strap that fits a 20mm lug — and we answer it with the published numbers, not with whatever we happen to like. Picks are compared across brands; no brand is favored, and none can pay to be included. The full method, including the scoring, is on our how we review page.

Sourcing and citation

Facts come from primary sources: manufacturer spec sheets, official product listings, and named public standards such as ISO 6425 for dive watches. Every roundup lists the sources it drew on. When a specification cannot be confirmed from a reliable source, we label it "data unavailable" — we never fill the gap with a guess, a remembered figure, or a number copied from another blog. Accuracy you can trace beats completeness you cannot.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do we want to know. If you spot a factual error, flag it through our contact page or email us at info@lugandleather.com. We aim to correct verified factual errors within 48 hours, and where a correction changes the substance of what we said, we note it visibly rather than editing quietly.

How often we update

Roundups are living documents. We refresh them on a roughly quarterly cadence to catch price movements, add newly released models, remove watches that have been discontinued, and repair broken links. Prices themselves update continuously and independently of this cadence, because they render live from Amazon.

No pay-for-placement, nothing invented

Two rules underpin everything above. First, no one can buy their way into or up our rankings — not with money, not with free product, not with access. Second, we do not invent. There are no fabricated reviews, no made-up testimonials, no imaginary awards, and no claims of hands-on testing we did not do. We are an independent publisher that compiles and computes, and we would rather be modest and true than impressive and invented.
